Bar Graphs

After studying how to gather, graph, and analyze data, use your knowledge to create a post which answers the following:

  • What is a bar graph?
  • Which vocabulary words are associated with bar graphs?
  • How can you use a bar graph to help you analyze information?
  • What questions could you ask based on the bar graph in the picture above?

Create (1) post and continue to check back and respond to three (3) friends. Keep the conversation going!

  1. the graph represents how many students meet years in the different months of the year and, how many people there are in each month.A graphic can be used for many ways to express how many people vote or who they threw etc

  2. Nice summary! Keep checking back to comment to your classmates. What do you mean by "who they threw?"

  3. - What is a bar graph?
Bar graph is a graph that represents data categorically through a rectangular shapes.

    - Which vocabulary words are associated with bar graphs?
Title, X axis, Y axis, Variable and Legend

    - How can you use a bar graph to help you analyze information?
I can use a bar graph when I would like to get a average scale about a group of options in discussion. For example: The county's favorites candidates in an election.

    - What questions could you ask based on the bar graph in the picture above?
    1. How many people have their birthday on May?
    2. ‎Which month has more than July?

  4. Beautifully written and defined! Legends are less commonly used with bar graphs and are more commonly accompanied with pie graphs, and pictographs.

    Ex: https://www.ixl.com/screenshot/4e7218c8b9592ce5be16a9f38644ee951154d176.png

The legend tells us what each pumpkin is "worth" in the graph. This is an example of a pictograph.

I just wanted you to see a different graphing variation. Keep up the great work!

  5. A bar graph is a pictorial rendition of statistical data in which the independent variable can attain only certain discrete values. The line that extends left and right (horizontal). The left line that up and down (vertical ). Vocabulary words: title , X axis, Y axis , variable, bar graph. We can use bar graphs to show the relative sizes of many things examples: how many people like movies and what kind movies they like. Based questions: 1. How many students have birthdays on April? 2. In which month was a born the most students? In which month was a born the least students ?

  6. Aneta, thank you for such a comprehensive response. I see you did some extra research to find the meaning of "bar graph." I just want to be sure you understand the mathematical definition in your own words. Also, let's rephrase your last two questions.

    1) In which month were the most students born?
    2) In which month were the least students born?

Be sure to check back and comment to your peers.

  8. The bar graph is a form where you can represent graphically data and values. They are used to compare two o more variables.
The vocabulary words associated with the bar graph are Title, X - axis, Y- axis and variables.
We can use a bar graph to help analyze different information about opinions, something you like, statistics, etc.
My two questions about this bar graph are:
    1) How many people had birthday in Jun?
    2) Wich is the month with more birthdays?

  9. Nice summary, Carolina! Remember, a variable is how much the scale increases on the y axis. I like how you defined the uses of a bar graph. Instead of saying "Which is the month with more birthdays?"Let's say "Which is the month with the most birthdays?" This way, there is a definite answer. If you'd like to use "more" you would have to use it as a comparison.
Ex: Which month has more birthdays than April?

  10. - A bar graph is a chart that uses bars to show comparisons between categories of data. The bars can be either horizontal or verical.

    - vocabulary words:title, x-axis, y-axis, and variables.

    - You can use a bar graph for better
visual understanding of categorizes by comparing one group to another or by determining value.

-How many students have a birthday in June?
-What month has the least birthdays?
