This week, we discussed the action verb "to apply" and its various definitions. We also looked at how to conjugate the verb in the simple past, present, and future tenses.
- Create one (1) post that explains what you know about the action verb "to apply," and write three (3) sentences that use each definition of the verb. (as a request, to smooth or spread, to give one's full attention to a task)

ReplyDeleteWe can use the verb "to apply" in three scopes:
ReplyDelete1. A FORMAL REQUEST: When we want to enter an institution such as a school or want to get something like a driver's license.
2. TO PUT OR SPREAD SOMETHING ON A SURFACE: When a person puts something specific on a particular surface.
3. GIVE FULL ATTENTION TO A TASK: When we want to focus firmly on an important task.
SENTENCES:
1. I applied to driver's license two months ago.
2. Ashley apply herself to the English classes.
3. The painters will apply the last layer of paint to the wall.

ReplyDeleteThanks for responding, Ivonne! You reminded everyone about the three defintions of "to apply." Nice examples! Remember, "to give your full attention to something" will always have the word "myself," 'herself," or "himself" etc... after the verb.
